Wizz Air Start their New Gatwick to Podgorica Route from the 9th April 2022

Currently, the only direct flights from London to Podgorica are with the low budget airline Ryanair, however, that’s set to change as Wizz Air has joined the scene, and will also start flying direct from London to Podgorica from the 9th April 2022.

The new route with Wizz Air, will be direct from Gatwick and though, initially, Ryanair have more flights per week, and currently fly out on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, they do only fly from Stansted, which can be quite a mission to get to, especially if you’ve got an early morning or late evening budget flight.  

Wizz Air actually spotted this opportunity back on the 22nd December 2021, announcing 14 new routes for the summer season, and these really only came about as they had acquired enough new slots from Norwegian to justify basing another four aircraft at Gatwick.

From Gatwick, the route to Podgorica was initially served by TUI back in 2018 and 2019, and before that, it was Montenegro Airlines between October 2009 and September 2013. The flights always proved to be very popular, and with the increased interest in Montenegro both from a tourism point of view, and a property purchase point of view, it’s a good move from Wizz Air on a commercial level.

To start with, the schedule will offer two flights a week on a Saturday and a Tuesday, but this will increase to four flights a week from June 2022, on a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Prices are very reasonable as well, much like Ryanair, with prices from as little as £11 each way, depending on when you fly.
