An almost unbroken string of towns lies along this strip of coast, accommodating the municipality's 35,000 residents. These include Igalo, Herceg Novi, Baošići, Đenovići, Meljine and Bijela. Herceg Novi is a major Montenegrin tourist destination. It is well known as a spa and health centre; nearby Igalo has an abundance of healing sea mud called "igaljsko blato" (Igalo mud) and mineral water springs called "igaljske slatine" (Igalo water springs).
The most famous tourist attractions in Herceg Novi is the Old Town (Stari Grad), with impressive historical buildings such as Sahat – Kula (Clock Tower 1667) and Fortress Kanli – Kula (1483), Spanjola (1538) and Forte Mare (1687). These are only a part of the cultural heritage of this renowned town. Tourist companies organise one-day boat trips to Luštica peninsula, which lies opposite the town. Popular Luštica peninsula beach sites include Žanjic, Mirište, Rose and there are many more small hidden beaches to be found. Apart from visiting the Old Town and Savina Monastery, and walking along the seafront promenade (Pet Danica) there are plenty of restaurants with enough fresh seafood to satisfy any appetite. The town is overflown with stunning tropical gardens, palm trees, kiwi, trees fruiting tangerines and oranges. Some of the interesting things to do would be kayak across the bay to the charming fishing village of Rose, take a boat trip to the Blue cave and Mamula island or even go hiking on Mount Orijen.
Herceg Novi has approximately 200 sunny days a year. In July and August, there are on average 11 sunny hours per day. With new complex built on Mamula island, Luxury marina Porto Novi and the first of its kind on our coast - Resort One & Only, Herceg Novi is gaining new charm of living.
