Poland offers it's Full Support to Montenegro for Both EU & Three Seas Alliance Membership

As Montenegro (who are already a well established member of Nato) push towards full EU membership, it’s good to know that they have a near neighbour’s full support in the likes of Poland, who’s president Andrzej Duda recently held talks with Montenegro’s President Milo Djukanovic regarding the Three Seas Initiative.

Originally introduced by Poland, it serves as a means of further communication and co-operation between EU states which border the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas, and although Montenegro currently aren’t part of the EU, they do have a coastline with the Adriatic and are seen as a future key ally within the region.

Keen to assert their continued independence, align themselves further with EU membership in the next few years and stand up against unjustified aggression, Djukakanovic recently signed a letter condemning Russia for it’s attacks on Ukraine, and not only that but they also expressed support for Ukraine in defense of a rule-based international order.

Not only did Duda make it clear that he was in full favour of Montenegro joining the Three Seas Alliance & joining the EU, he also made it very clear that Montenegro should have the means to defend itself against any foreign interference.

Support for Montenegro to join the EU has been growing rapidly over the last 10 years, and many foreign dignitaries now see a route being confirmed within the next few years. Joining the Three Seas Initiative would certainly be a further step in the right direction, and given that the World Bank also predicts Montenegro to have the highest GDP growth rate this year within the Balkan zone, the signs are positive for their future.
