Financially friendlier when compared with the traditional hotspots such as Spain and Portugal, Podgorica (Montenegro’s Capital) offers cheap direct flights along with low-cost meals and drinks, whilst keeping the quality extremely high. Mix that in with the stunning scenery, and you’ve got a bargain-busting holiday destination that will leave you with long-lasting memories and the desire to return, in order to discover more of the country.

If we delve a little deeper into the costs, return flights from London can be as little as £80, with direct flights also available from Manchester into Tivat. Flights are available with Easyjet, Ryanair, Wizz Air and Jet2 plus, there are also indirect flights, though these are more expensive. If you head out for a drink or a bite to eat, you’ll generally pay around £1 for a bottle of local beer (which is fabulous by the way) and approx. £15-£20 for a wholesome meal. A night in a decent hotel can be as little as £70.

Of course, being the capital Podgorica offers a lot for tourists including the clock tower and the Cathedral however many of the top attractions are further afield. You’ve got 200km of coastline to choose from with several beaches that are of the ‘Blue Flag’ category, you’ve got Lake Skadar and the Waterfalls in the Cijevna River, you’ve got the beautiful Island of Sveti Stefan, and of course you’ve got the Unesco World Heritage Town of Kotor! Yes, Montenegro might appear to be a small country, but there’s plenty to do and see here and it’s nice and easy to get around with a hire car, which again is relatively cheap when compared with it’s European counterparts.

You can stay in Montenegro for up to 90 days without a visa and the Euro is the main currency. Plus in many of the tourist areas English is widely spoken, although the official languages are Montenegrin, Serbian & Albanian.

So, after all that – what are you waiting for? A visit to Montenegro awaits and should definitely be on your list for this year. There’s still plenty of time to book a trip, and should you need any assistance or information, do give us a bell. If there’s one thing CMM Group love talking about – it’s Montenegro!
