Montenegro Opens it’s very Own ‘House of Olives’

‘Montenegro has the opportunity to reach the European consumption and quality of olive oil per capita’ – those were the words echoed by PM Krivokapić when he officially opened the new ‘House of Olives’ last week in Bar.

The Olive Tree has always been a symbol of peace, co-existence and friendship and now it will also be a sign of prosperity within the Montenegrin tradition. Situated in Stari Bar, the new site will process and produce Oil, organize workshops and training, provide a sales & exhibition space, and be a hub for Olive Grove tourism including promoting the quality of other Montenegrin products such as honey, wine & fruit.

The project is a joint venture between the Government, Municipality of Bar, Olive Growers and tourist associations, and representatives expressed great satisfaction and delight with the project due to contributing significantly to both the Tourism and Olive Oil export industries in Montenegro.

Aligning themselves closer to the EU, with a membership of the bloc still in development, the Olive Oil will be produced, packaged and labelled exclusively according to EU standards, so you might just see it hit the UK supermarket shelves shortly!
