After withdrawing from the competition in both 2020 and 2021, Montenegro is back in Eurovision and they will shortly announce the method of their selection process for their 2022 entry within a few weeks. The Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG confirmed the news shortly after the competing nations were announced, and they are looking forward to the competition taking place in Turin after Italy won Eurovision this year with the song Zitti e Buoni, performed by Manikin.

2022 will see their 12th representative take to the stage, which to date, hasn’t yielded happy memories apart from 2015, when Knez ended up in 13th place, with the song ‘Adio’. They didn’t qualify in the first 3 attempts since gaining independence, and they fared no better in their last appearance in 2019 when they also failed to get through to the final.

For whoever is chosen to participate in the 66th edition of Eurovision, their first goal will be to qualify of course, which will be an achievement in itself, after which they can try to win the coveted trophy in the final, which is taking place on the 14th May 2022.
