Lustica Bay situated just a few kilometres from the UNESCO world heritage resort of Kotor is a new multi-billion-euro town development project, built in partnership with Orascom & the Montenegrin Government.

Construction works on the project started in 2013, and overall, there will be three main areas within the complex known as Marina Village, Centrale and the Peaks. Each of the areas will have their own unique style and all will include residential properties, hotels, bars/restaurants, amenities & boutique shops. So far investment has reached a total of €380m, with over 400 families & the Chedi Hotel having already moved into Marina Village.

The exciting news for Golf Fans is that the Peaks Development is now well underway, which will include Montenegro’s first world-class, 18-hole golf course, designed by Gary Player. Built with nature & beauty in mind each hole will offer stunning Adriatic & Coastal views whilst the terrain will offer something for all abilities, from novice to professional. A driving range will help to hone your skills whilst the golf academy set to open in 2024 will offer both private and group lessons. A clubhouse is also under construction which will offer a pro-shop and fabulous restaurant/bar along with an amazing residential project offering Villas, Apartments and Townhouses all with golf course views.

The aim is to have the first nine holes completed in time for next season, with the additional nine holes to follow a year later. It’s worth noting that the course is also set to be one of the only few in the world that can boast a sea view from every tee. When approached for comment back in 2019 Gary said: ‘I was amazed by the beauty of the property, wildlife and natural terrain with the incredible views over the Adriatic Sea. That’s something quite rare these days for a golf course design project, being able to see the water from almost all the holes. No doubt it will be a spectacular course when it opens.’

Senior Designer Steven Mcfarlane also pointed that they are going to manufacture their own capping sand by crushing the excavated rock for the project and that all irrigation water will be treated effluent from the nearby town, making the course self-sufficient, more eco-friendly and self-sufficient.
There aren’t many local golfers within Montenegro, so whilst the aim will be to grow the sport internally, the hope is that the course will also attract a more global audience therefore increasing Tourism to the region and to Montenegro in general.
